  3. Main information on Poland European Union Member State since May 1st, 2004 Area of 312.679 km2 7,3% of total EU-27 area; 6th place within the European Union. 38,1 millions of inhabitants 7,7% of the total EU-27 population in 2007; 6th place within the European Union.

  9. National legislation • The Law of 7 March 2007 on support for rural development through co-financing by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) • Regulation of the President of the Council of Ministers of 18 March 2009 on the National Rural Development Network.

Objectives of NRDN • Support for implementation and evaluation of rural development policy; • Activation of organisations and administrative structures engaged in rural development; • Identification, analysis, dissemination and exchange of information and knowledge of rural development among all stakeholders at local, regional, national and Community levels; • Dissemination of knowledge about rural development strategy, • Enhancement of effectiveness of measures implemented under RDP 2007-2013.

Defined measures in the Action Plan • Identification and analysis of good practices in rural development that can be transferred and transmission of information thereon; • Transfer of good practices, innovative proects and organisation of the exchange of experiences and know-how; • Preparation of training programmes for LAGs under creation, including the exchange of experiences between LAGs; • Network management; • Technical assistance for inter-regional and trans-national cooperation; • Support for inter-institutional cooperation , including international cooperation; • Exchange of knowledge and evaluation of rural development policy

  12. Structure of NRN • NRN National Network Unit (Secretariat) - the Unit in the structure of Rural Development Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; • 16 Regional Network Units – established in the Marshall Office of each voivodship; • Working group.

  16. Action plans • Prepared for 2 year long periods • In December 2009 implementation of the first action plan for 2008-2009 was finished • Currently the new action plan for 2010 and 2011 is implemented

NRN Bulletin • In 2010 the structure of a Bulletin changed • Now it is a quarterly journal divided into two parts • One part is devoted to different aspects of functioning of the NRDN (problematic papers of different authors) • Second part is devoted to current activities of partners/regional secretaries etc.

  20. „Friendly village” competition Winning project from Wielkopolska Region SPO – ROL Measure: „Village renewal” Natural Education Center connected with renewal of old manorial farm in Mniszki It promotes old occupations and is a place of different events. The autumn plum marmalade cooking is one of them. Pupils from the whole region visit this place regularly. It is also popular between the citizens of the municipalities nearby and members of different NGOs.

  21. Model organic farm in Chwałowice(Mazowieckie region) • Established by Agricultural Advisory Center in Brwinow – Branch in Radom in 2006 • Specialized in organic production of beef cattle (Hereford, Limousine), cereals (i.e. spelt) and vegetables • The farm got the organic certificate in 2008

  22. Model organic farm in Chwałowice(Mazowieckie region) • Oriented on educational activity • Trainings for agricultural advisors who work with farmers • Unique equipment proper for organic production • Spelt flour production • About 300 species of plants kept in the research part of the farm
