  3. Building Propellers What you’ll need: Propeller Motor IGNORE: Cylinder top Nut (2) wrench Screw x4 Tiny screw

  4. Building Propellers Using a sharpie, record ‘R’ or ‘L’ (for right or left) on the yellow propeller Place the propeller on the screw Tighten a nut behind it Tighten another nut midway up the screw

  5. Building Propellers Using small pliers, remove the cap from the motor

  6. Building Propellers Place cylinder top on motor Make sure hole is directed at the flat side Place screw on wrench Screw into cylinder top

  7. Building Propellers Tighten screw into cylinder top Tighten nut onto cylinder top **When finished with propeller, use lock-tight glue to secure nuts and propeller. DO NOT use lock-tight glue if you plan to rebuild propellers with students.

  10. Mounting the Propellers Attach a hose clamp to the propeller, and tighten around a PVC connector.

  11. Mounting the Propellers What should we consider when mounting the propeller? • How will propeller placement effect speed/maneuverability? • Where on the ROV? • Close together? Far apart? • In frame? Out of frame?

  12. Mounting the Propellers Attach propeller to ROV Two propellers will be up and down Two propellers will be forwards/backwards/right/left

  13. Mounting the Camera What should we consider when mounting the camera? • Where on the frame? • Which direction will it face? • Is there anything obstructing its view? • How do we attach it?

  14. Mounting the Camera You can attach the camera using hose clamps or zip ties. First remove the silver torpedos from bottom of camera.
