  3. w 2/13(W) Start By: A. Remove the tire and rim (front). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove (Front)". B. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release". Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN. NOTICE Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed. Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch. 1. Drain the front final drives. Final drives with oil cooled disc brakes have approximately 2.0 L (.5 US gal). https://127.0.0.1/sisweb/sisweb/techdoc/techdoc_print_page.jsp?returnurl=/sisweb/siswe... 2020/4/6

  16. w 2/19(W) S 9U-5006 Torque Wrench 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times. Illustration 1 g00895163 1. Install ring gear assembly (21) onto spindle (33). 10. Install spanner nut (20). 11. Install Tooling (E) onto spanner nut (20). 12. Rotate the hub while spanner nut (20) is being tightened. Use Tooling (S) in order to tighten the spanner nut to a torque of 1200 N·m (885 lb ft). Do not exceed a torque of 1464 N·m (1080 lb ft). https://127.0.0.1/sisweb/sisweb/techdoc/techdoc_print_page.jsp?returnurl=/sisweb/siswe... 2020/4/6

  19. w 5/19(W) Illustration 8 g00895310 13. Install Tooling (R). Note: Tooling (R) must be in line with the radius of the hub, as shown. Note: The required rolling torque for the roller bearing is 15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb in). Note: The required rolling torque for the roller bearing must be measured from the center of the hub. Tooling (R) is not attached to the center of the hub, but to the wheel stud. The torque reading for Tooling (R) has been recalculated. The calculation is based on the length of Tooling (R). The torque reading on Tooling (R) must be 8.2 ± 1.6 N·m (73 ± 14 lb in). This setting on Tooling (R) will obtain the required rolling torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (133 ± 27 lb ft). Note: If Tooling (R) is not used, the torque must be recalculated. Refer to Sliderule Torque Computer, SEHS7150. If the sliderule torque computer is not available, calculate the torque by using the following formula: (15 ± 3 N·m) X (L / (L+R)). L = the length of the arm of the torque wrench. R = the distance between the center of the hub and the wheel stud. 14. Use Tooling (R) to slowly rotate the hub. Record the amount of torque that is required to rotate the hub. The torque reading on Tooling (R) must be 8.2 ± 1.6 N·m (73 ± 14 lb in). If the rolling torque is not correct, repeat Step 5 through Step 13 using a different bushing. If the rolling torque is greater than the value that is specified, install the next wider bushing. If the rolling torque is less than the specified value, install the next narrower bushing. Recheck the rolling torque. Note: After the correct size for spindle (33) and the correct rolling torque are obtained, the ring gear and the hub are removed in order to install the seals. https://127.0.0.1/sisweb/sisweb/techdoc/techdoc_print_page.jsp?returnurl=/sisweb/siswe... 2020/4/6
