Everman’s Kindergarten Kapersbetsy.everman@boyle.kyschools.us 859-236-7688October 27, 2014 Learning Targets: At the end of the week your child will be able to… Writing Workshop: ~ I can write about a single event. ~ I can write about events in the order in which they occurred. ~ I can write a complete sentence. ~ I can put space between my words. ~ I can start my sentence with a capital & use ending punctuation. Math Workshop: ~ I can identify the numbers 8,9, & 10. ~ I can compose & decompose numbers 8, 9 & 10 Reading Workshop: ~ I can identify sentence features. ~ I can read left to right. ~ I can read from top to bottom. ~ I can put a sentence in order. ~ I can red page by page. Skills Block (Phonics): ~ I can read the sight words. ~ I can identify the sound of “th”. ~ I can print upper & lowercase letter “th” Classroom Happenings: 50’s Day– Wednesday is our Ice Cream Social and Sock Hop! Please make sure and send in your item for our special day. Everyone was assigned to bring something! Drug Free Days – Woodlawn will celebrate growing up Drug Free. Mrs. Sharp will discuss during her guidance class this week. We will support it with the following: Monday 27th– Wear sun glasses (we are too cool for drugs!) Tuesday 28th – Wear Red – to be Drug Free Wednesday 29th– Sign a pledge banner to be Drug Free Thursday 30th – Crazy Sock Day (we are going to sock it to drugs!) Friday 30th – We will all get Smarties (because we are too smart for drugs!) Parent/Teacher Conferences – are this week. Please let me know if you can not make your appointment. We only have 15 minutes so that there is time for each family. I look forward to sharing with you about your child!!! Homework: Read & record in book log 5 nights a week. 2. Read “Take Home Book” night. 3. Read ABC linking chart and Sight Words nightly. * Dates to Remember on back

  2. Dates to Remember: 10/27-10/31 – Parent Teacher Conferences 10/27-10/31 – Pledge – Our class will be saying the Pledge for the entire school. Please practice with your child at home. 10/27 – Grandbuddies – we will be Trick or Treating – wear regular clothes to school and we will change into our costumes after special class (about 1:15). Don’t forget to bring a candy bucket. If you can come to school and help with the costume change we could use the help! Bring your camera and join the fun! 10/29 – 50’s Day – wear your poodle skirts, roll up your jeans, put on your Bobbie socks and slick back your hair and get ready for a sock hop in the Amphitheatre about 1:30. 11/4 – Staff Day – No School for Students 11/7 – Woodlawn’s Birthday Raz-Kids - if you have not had a chance to register on line, please do so, or send me a note with your email address and I can get you registered. Raz-Kids is a computer based reading program where the students read books on their level. Lexia- this is another computer based program that Woodlawn has adopted. This program is also a reading program but it is has a strong phonics base on the students level. Instructions for registering are coming home today. The kiddos are eager to work on these programs as we get classroom rewards each time they complete a level!
