  1. The End of the World By : CJ

  2. Human Affection • Risks to civilization, humans, and planet Earth are existential risks that could threaten humankind as a whole, have adverse consequences for the course of human civilization or, even cause the end of planet earth. • End of the World • Doomsday Ragnarök • Judgment Day • Armageddon • The Apocalypse and others

  3. Earthquakes • An earthquake (also known as a quake, tremor or temblor) is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. If this was to strike the earth, we will very well be in great danger.

  4. Tornadoes • A tornado (often referred to as a twister or, erroneously, a cyclone) is a violent, dangerous, rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. The worst is the F5. If these were to strike the world, it will destroy us.

  5. Asteroids • Earth has collided with several large asteroids in recent geological history. The Cretaceous-Tertiary asteroid for example, is theorized to have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. If such an object struck Earth it could have a serious impact on civilization. • .

  6. Megatsunami • Another possibility is a megatsunami. A megatsunami could, for example, destroy the entire East Coast of the United States. The coastal areas of the entire world could also be flooded. A megatsunami could have astronomical origins as well, such as an asteroid impact in an ocean

  7. Volcanoes • . • When the supervolcano at Yellowstone last erupted 640,000 years ago, the magma and ash ejected from the caldera covered most of the United States west of the Mississippi river and part of northeastern Mexico.[33] Another such eruption could threaten civilization.

  8. Hurricanes • A hurricane is a big storm that forms over warm tropical water (ocean). It can do very much damage. If it was to strike the earth, well for a short version, we’re through.

  9. Floods • A flood is an overflow of an expanse of water that submerges land. Floods are very well dangerous. Floods can kill you and every one else if you don’t get away. Just imagine if one of these were to hit earth. If they do then we are sure enough dead.

  10. Climate Changes • Climate change reflects abnormal variations to the expected climate within the Earth's atmosphere and subsequent effects on other parts of the Earth. Destructive sudden heavy rains, intense tropical storms, repeated flooding and droughts are likely to increase, as will the vulnerability of local communities in the absence of strong concerted action

  11. Solar Flares • Solar flares—more properly known as coronal mass ejections—are enormous magnetic outbursts on the sun that bombard Earth with a torrent of high-speed subatomic particles. Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field negate the potentially lethal effects of ordinary flares.

  12. Solar Flares • But while looking through old astronomical records, Bradley Schaefer of Yale University found evidence that some perfectly normal-looking, sunlike stars can brighten briefly by up to a factor of 20. Schaefer believes these stellar flickers are caused by superflares, millions of times more powerful than their common cousins. Within a few hours, a superflare on the sun could fry Earth and begin disintegrating the ozone layer

  13. Magnetic Fields • The magnetic field deflects particle storms and cosmic rays from the sun, as well as even more energetic subatomic particles from deep space. Without magnetic protection, these particles would strike Earth's atmosphere, eroding the already beleaguered ozone layer .

  14. Global Warming • The Earth is getting warmer, and scientists mostly agree that humans bear some blame. It's easy to see how global warming could flood cities and ruin harvests. That could include crop diseases which, combined with substantial climate shifts, might cause famine. Effects could be even more dramatic.

  15. Robot Invasion • People create smart robots, which turn against us and take over the world. Yawn. We've seen this in movies, TV, and comic books for decades. After all these years, look around and still—no smart robots. Yet Hans Moravec, one of the founders of the robotics department of Carnegie Mellon University, remains a believer. By 2040, he predicts, machines will match human intelligence, and perhaps human consciousness.

  16. Mass Insanity • While physical health has improved in most parts of the world over the past century, mental health is getting worse. By 2020, depression will likely be the second leading cause of death and lost productivity, right behind cardiovascular disease. Increasing human life spans may actually intensify the problem, because people have more years to experience the loneliness and infirmity of old age.

  17. Alien Invasion • Not only do the aliens exist, they are about to stop by for a visit. And then . . . any science-fiction devotee can tell you what could go wrong. But the history of human exploration and exploitation suggests the most likely danger is not direct conflict. Aliens might want resources from our solar system (Earth's oceans, perhaps, which could take away all of the water

  18. My Opinions • The ones I think will happen are tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, global warnings, and climate changes. I think these will happen because they are the ones that are common to the world.
