  1. Assignment # 3 By Syaff Brunson Jr.

  2. Imagine a airplane with a series of special instruments anchored to it’s walls: a pendulum, a 100 kg mass on a spring balance, and a sealed half full aquarium. What will happen to each Instrument when the plane takes off, makes turns, slows down, lands etc.

  3. Pendulum • If there were to be a pendulum in the plane, then the pendulum would have a natural reaction to every sudden and gradual movement of the plane • Plane taking off causes a tilt backwards, therefore the pendulum swings backwards, if the plane stops, then it swings forwards, if it slows down or speeds up, then the swinging motion of the pendulum increases and decreases. • Eventually it will stop swinging once the plane lands

  4. Aquarium • If a half full aquarium were to be on a plane while it’s in motion, the water would be shifting from side to side • There is space in the tank so it’s easy for water to move • When the plane takes off, and tilts backwards, the water in the tank should shift all the way to one say, either motion the plane has, the water reacts to it, still when plan is still, sway back and forth when the plane accelerates, leveled when the plane is at a constant velocity straight rather than on a tilt.

  5. Self experiment I tried to perform this experiment in the back of my moms car with a bottlof water, and the same effects occur in the car as they do in the plane and tank situation

  6. The End
