  2. Objectives • To know the names of different instruments used in Indian music, how they are played & when they are used within the rag desh. • To understand the Indian taal system & to add a tabla part into rag piece learnt last lesson. • To play rags learnt last lesson into cubase.

  3. Stringed Instruments(Chordophones) • Sitar • Tanpura (or tambura) • Sarangi • Sarod

  4. Wind Instruments(Aerophones) • Bansuri (bamboo flute) • Nadaswaran (type of oboe) (used for festive occasions & temple music) • Shehnai (type of oboe) (used for weddings)

  5. Drums(Membranophone) • Tabla (Most popular Hindustani drum) • Dholak (used in North Indian folk music) • Khol
