The Networks • The NIHR Clinical Research Network makes it possible for all patients and health professionals across England to participate in relevant clinical trials.“to make patients, and the NHS, better” • Ensure patients and healthcare professionals from all parts of the country are able to participate in and benefit from clinical research • Integrate health research and patient care • Improve the quality, speed and co-ordination of clinical research • Increase collaboration with industry partners and ensure that the NHS can meet the health research needs of industry.

  6. NIHR Comprehensive Clinical Research Network (CCRN) in England To provide the NHS infrastructure for supporting clinical research via its 25 CLRNs To streamline the research management function and reduce bureaucracy Covers all areas of healthcare and disciplines

Essex &Hertfordshire CLRN The CLRN activities are bounded by the requirements to deliver on the contract signed between the Department of Health (DH), and the CLRN Host Organisation An essential element to delivery on that contract is member trusts signing up to the Membership Agreement The E&H CLRN currently represents a membership of 17 trusts and is hosted by North East Essex Primary Care Trust The E&H CLRN also manages some funding on behalf of Essex & Hertfordshire PCTs
