Why Go Green? • In 2008, Pennsylvania collected 5.48 billion tons of recyclable materials. • Because of recycling programs being active all over the state, almost $18 million in grants was available to 478 communities in 58 of the 67 counties in PA.   5. Why Go Green? In Pennsylvania, recycling has saved the state approximately 98 BTUs of energy annually. Recycling has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 2.5 million metric tons annually.   8. Green For You There are 67 counties in the state of Pennyslvania and each county has an active recycling program. All counties participate in single stream recycling. Green Electronics The process of recycling electronics such as computers, monitors, cell phones, rechargable batteries, televisions and cathode ray tubes (CRT) in an environmentally safe manner.
