  1. FOOTBALL By: Barbara Giesteira

  2. Where did Football originate from? • History says that football originally came from the medieval Europe, they had a range of games that they played using their foot. The Ancient Romans and Greeks are known to have played some games using balls, some which they used their feet, similar to football. But football was actually originated in England, it was in England where football begin to take shape. The game “Football” started in 1863, in England, when two football association split on their different course. The first Football Association was found in England, in 1863. Ancient Greek playing their game using a ball, similar to football

  3. Who made up the first organized set of rules for Football? • The first organize rules of football were made in England. The rules were made by the football Association in 1863. The English Football Association established the first rules of the association of football. The latter rules of association of football are based on the mid-19th century efforts to make many different forms of football played at the schools in England. I think rules were made, so that they could prevent from injuries. And also because the game will be fair for all the matches played around the world.

  4. How many countries play Football as their national sport? • Many different countries play football as their national sport. Football is played as their national sport in over 60 different nations. To sum the countries that play football as their national sport regionally, , football is played as their national sport in South America, Western Europe (all countries from Norway down to Greece), South East Asia (Countries from Indonesia to Thailand and Cambodia are not particularly good in football, but it is watched and followed even though they are not very good at it), Middle East countries like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq etc, African Nations (Almost all African nations excluding South Africa have football as their national sport.) Countries that football the national game are; Mexico, Japan, India , Pakistan , Sri Lanka ,West Indies , Caribbean ,South Africa and Canada. So almost all the nations play football as their national sport. So football is known everywhere in the world.

  5. Why football has become so popular around the world?

  6. REASON 1 • Football is the world’s most popular sport. I think one of the main reasons why football is so popular is because of the inspiration inside football, it’s a sport that makes people cheer because of players talents, skills and capacity they have witnessed. If a player can use his mind and body to do anything, the audience will cheer more, due to the player’s talent and skill. People are impressed when they see talents and imagination. So one of the reasons why football is popular is because of the player talent that is put into the game, which makes the people impressed.

  7. REASON 2 • The second reason I think football is so popular around the world is the fact that football doesn't need particular equipments to be able to play, all the kids and adult in poor 3rd world countries can play it, they just need a ball and an empty field, and if they have that they can enjoy playing football. So football can also be popular due to the fact that you don’t need a lot of equipments to be able to play the game.

  8. REASON 3 • The third reason I think football is really popular around the world is because of fans likes watching a football match, it is so entertaining to watch the skills and talents of the players in a match. Also because of the excitement in a game, anything could happen in the game, it is very compelling and engaging. Anything can help in the game, in the 90 or 120 minutes of the game, or even in a penalty kick. The results could change in any time of the game, even in the dying moments of the game. So the third reason I think football is popular is because you never really know what is going to happen during the game, so you get really exited to watch the match.

  9. Are there different ways of playing, or styles, of Football in different areas around the world? • Football, mostly known as soccer is played differently all around the world. For example, the Australian football, the Canadian, the American all play differently. But the rules will always keep the same, the football rule is a match played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball. The match is played in a rectangular field of grass with a goal in the ends of each side of the field. The object of football is to score a goal by driving the ball to the opposite goals. The goalkeepers are the only ones allowed to touch the ball with their hands or arms. The field players use their feet to kick the ball into position, sometimes using their chest or head to stop the ball in midair. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins the game. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a draw is announced or the game gets extra time or sometimes it can also get into a penalty shootout, it depends on the format of the competition. So all the areas around the world play differently, not meaning the rules but the way they play. The way players play are different, they all have different techniques. Each player has a different talent and the players techniques and talents is what makes a match different. For example, the goalkeeper in a team can be stronger than the other team’s goalkeeper.
