Assessment Definitions: • Vision statement identifies how we want to be viewed. • Mission statement is a description of what we do. • Objectives are broad goals/statements of what the department would like to achieve. These include student educational objectives, faculty objectives and other department objectives. • Student Learning Outcomes are specific skills that the students will possess at the end of the degree program. These Learning Outcomes are described to meet the student educational objectives. • Measures are detailed metrics that indicate whether a specific Learning Outcome has been achieved.

Objectives • Graduating students have the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in industry and/or continue their education in graduate programs. • Graduates have the knowledge and skills that enable them to participate in life-long learning and to adapt to an ever-changing technological environment. • Faculty have enough time in their work schedule to pursue their research interests. • Faculty remain current in their fields. • The curriculum is up-to-date and reflects the best current thinking about computer science.

Objectives • Enrolled students have opportunities to participate in professional student organizations and pre-professional employment. • Our teaching and research facilities consist of state of the art classrooms and equipment. • We are well known and respected in the regional community. • Our programs are considered attractive and desirable options by all qualified students in our service community. • We retain contact, offer support, and establish a networking community for our alumni.

Learning Outcomes • Students will have a broad understanding of computing at all levels of abstraction (Algorithms, Architecture, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Automata Theory) • Students have had the opportunity to focus in depth on selected areas of Computer Science. • Students will have the training to design and implement a large software system and will have the ability to work both individually and collaboratively. • Students will have sufficient oral and written communication skills. • Students will have the skills to pursue careers in industry and/or continue their education in graduate programs. • Students will have the skills to adapt to the evolving technologies in Computer Science.
