Solar Array Details • 2.5 MW system covering 11 acres • 2.92 million kWh production (equivalent to powering 270 homes all year) • Will provide 54% of Houghton’s annual electricity demand • No cost to Houghton to build or maintain (funding through NextEra Energy & NYSERDA grant) • Array will be owned and operated by NextEra • Houghton has agreed to purchase 100% of the energy generated by the array for 25 years

  3. Benefits to Houghton • Guaranteed energy rates • Potential savings of $1-3 million over 25years • Clean, renewable energy • 23% greenhouse gas emission reduction (1,877 MTCO2e or like taking 400 cars off road) • Publicity

  4. Construction Timeline • Material procurement – now • Site preparation: May • Construction and installation: June – August • Installation complete – mid September • Ribbon cutting - Homecoming • Operational – March 2015 or earlier (depending on RGE)
