  2. Did You Know? Research from a global security software company discovered that more than 90% of human resources professionals search for unprotected social media profiles in order to assess a candidate`s suitability.

  4. Did You Know? It is legal for employers to search social media sites, providing they do not discriminate based on race and gender. They can choose not to give you a job based on your profile!

  5. Did You Know? Job seekers were being found out for lying about their qualifications with employers checking their facebook pages to see if their online details matched their resume.

  6. Is This You? 13% of potential employees were dismissed for making racist comments, and 9% were overlooked for displaying racy photos on their facebook page.

  7. 1 in 10 were knocked back for boasting about drinking and drugs online.

  12. Top Tip Protect your digital reputation: don’t put anything online that you wouldn’t want your friends, family, colleagues and employers to see. Protect your personal social media or other internet accounts with privacy settings.

  14. Top Tip Look for ‘Settings’ or ‘Options’ on social media sites to manage who can see your profile or photos tagged with your name and control how people can make comments.

  16. Top Tip Discover what is on the Internet about you and periodically evaluate what you find. Create a positive reputation of yourself!
