  2. What is a Word Document? • Using a computer to create, edit, and print documents. Of all computer applications, word processing is the most common. Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing software in the world. To perform table inserts, you need a computer and a special program called a word processor (in this case Microsoft Word). A word processor enables you to create a document, store it electronically on a disk, display it on a screen, modify it by entering commands and characters from the keyboard, and print it on a printer. • Keywords: Word Processing Software • Today we will be providing an example of inserting a table in Microsoft Word.

Inserting a Table • Use the Table menu • Click in the document where you want to insert a table. • On the Insert tab, • Select the Tables section • Click Table • Then select the number of rows and columns you want the table to be. Remember Header Rows and Total Rows. • For example for a table with 2 columns and 3 rows, select 2 squares and go down 3 times, so in total you should have 6 squares. • Using table templates • You can use table templates to insert a table based on a series of templates. Table templates contain sample data to show a potential use of the table or to help conceptualize how to use the table. • Click in the document where you want to insert a table. • On the Insert tab, • Select the Tables section • Click Table • Select Quick Tables and then simply select the template that you want to use.

Inserting a Table (cont.) • Convert text to a table • Insert commas or tabs — to indicate where you want to divide the text into columns. • Use paragraph marks to indicate where you want to begin a new row. • Select the text that you want to convert. • the Insert tab • Tables section • Select Table, • Select Convert To Text Table • In the Convert Text to Table dialog box, under Separate text at, click the option for the commas or tabs. • Select any other options that you want.
