Afrikaans is the third most spoken home language in SA, after Zulu and Xhosa.

Afrikaans is the 1st or 2nd home language in five out of the nine provinces.

More black, coloured, and Indian South Africans speak Afrikaans at home than white South Africans, according to the SA Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) 2013
