Leaves of Absence Timeline Pregnancy Leave - Regular Day 1: SDI waiting period begins* Day 8: SDI begins PFL begins Birth FMLA and PDL begin CFRA begins 4 weeks 6 weeks FMLA continues for 2 more weeks Health care provider return to work authorization Return to work Health care provider certification Notes Actual dates are dependent upon health care provider’s certification. *Company may require use of all accrued sick time and employee may elect to use accrued vacation/PTO. Make sure this matches company policy. PFL 7 day waiting period waived as along as it follows SDI.
