Aims • The aim of ATEG (Assessment of Training and Educational Gaps) project is to conceive and implement a structure of knowledge that provides a good standard for training and education of BRT systems enabling to synthesize valuable information for the review of current training provision and standards in the different countries as well as to identify current needs Duration: 18 months Started: September 2010 Finish: Janeiro 2012

Operational objectives • Identify the needs of BRT agents (operators, authorities, third and fourth party suppliers, etc) in terms of competencies and knowledge. • Survey the knowledge and competencies provided by the courses offered in the different universities; • Compare stakeholders needs with the competencies available in the different countries as offered by main universities; • Propose solutions to overcome gaps between needs and offers and to share knowledge; • Propose a structured way of sharing knowledge on BRT systems.

Researchquestions • Current degree of education of employees in BRT systems? • Detailed knowledge and competencies required for the activities developed in the industry? • How common and valued is the practice of training and continuing education in the industry? • How managers perceive the need for education and training skills in the different domains of intervention? • Which elements can contribute for a better coherence between formal education and training curricula against the actual needs?

DEVELOPMENT OF STRUCTURES FOR KNOWLEDGE SHARING • Sharing references • Knowing the good references in a specific topic is always of great interest. • Sharing knowledge • An interesting example of sharing and common construction of a website is Wikipedia. • Sharing development and innovation • The ultimate goals of this project is to enable the creation of collaborative relations between industry and academia where synergies are used to identify areas of development and foster innovation
