  1. Uses of Ultrasound in Pregnancy An organ scan is necessary during pregnancy so that it can e checked whether the fetus is getting the required nutrients and blood from the mother. Organ scan during pregnancy is also necessary to check the growth of the fetus. This scanning is done through ultrasound. What is ultrasound? Ultrasound is a technique of organ scan screening, which doctors use to check the functions of organs. A water-based gel is applied to the part, which is to be scanned. This gel helps the sound waves to travel properly. The doctor places the transducer on the place where the gel is applied and looks into the computer. Black and white images are clicked which appear on the ultrasound screen. The doctor may ask the patient to hold the breath in order to take images. Types of pregnancy ultrasound Many types of pregnancy ultrasound are done to check if there is any problem during pregnancy. These ultrasounds are discussed here. Transvaginal ultrasound This type of ultrasound provides a clear image of the fetus in the early stage. In this ultrasound, a small probe is inserted into the vagina to click the images. 3D Ultrasound This ultrasound helps the doctors in checking the height, width, and depth of the fetus and the organs of the mother. This is a very useful ultrasound as doctors can detect any type of

A special probe and software are used to click 3D images in this technique. 4D Ultrasound This ultrasound is used to create a video of the moving fetus. Doctors can click the images of the face and movement of the fetus. Special equipment is used to perform the ultrasound.
