  2. Swedish disability policy • The cornerstone of Swedish disability policy is the principle that everyone is of equal value and has equal rights. • The aim of the policy is to close the gap between people with disabilities and people with no disabilities. Campus Lidköping 2011

Swedish disability policy • The government, municipalitiesand county councils together have the basic responsibility • for ensuring that people with disabilities are guaranteed good health and economic and social stability, and also for enabling the individual to lead an independent life.   17. Swedish disability policy • We have a law that sets out rights for persons with considerable and permanent functionalimpairments: • The Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments • called (LSS) Campus Lidköping 2011

The LSS applies to • persons with an intellectual disability, autism or a condition resembling autism • persons with a significant and permanent intellectualimpairment after braindamage in adulthood • persons who have other major and permanent physical or mental impairments Campus Lidköping 2011
