  4. Binder/ Notebook Fourth grade notebooks are to be brought home each night by the students and back again each day. This is an important learning tool for us!

  13. READING IS THINKING Develop reading strategies to make meaning out of reading PRACTICE - PRACTICE - PRACTICE Required to read 30 minutes four nights a week. The students are strongly encouraged to complete the 40 book challenge.

  15. Journals/Notebooks We have several journals/notebooks for each subject. Each notebook has a different purpose. Reader’s Response Journal (Goes home weekly) Reading Notebook Writer’s Notebook Math Notebook Science Journal These notebooks are used for note taking and reflecting on what is learned in class. Occasionally you will see these notebooks come home. They need to be returned to school the next day. Periodically grades are taken from the notebooks.

  16. Homework • Some homework every night. • *Math • *Reading (30 minutes) • Writing/Word Work • Science/SS • Unfinished Work • Homework should be written in the agenda. • Homework should be kept behind the homework divider in the binder.

Castle Time! • Each day your child will benefit from our special Castle time. • Students will be working in a variety of small groups to meet their needs in reteaching, mastering and enriching their learning. • Students will be paired with a variety of students and teachers throughout the year.

  18. Absences • Your child will be given work missed on the day absent. It is the student’s responsibility to turn in make up work in a timely manner. • If you know your child will miss school, please notify the teacher beforehand so she can have assignments ready. • Please call the office on the day of an absence.
