  2. What is a saviour sibling? A saviour sibling is a sibling specially breed for a their brother/sister in order to help them from their terminal illness eg,a saviour sibling would donate bone marrow or a kidney.

  3. the guild lines for the decision making process surrounding choosing a saviour sibling 1. The condition of the affected child should be severe or life threatening. This means that the condition of the child is causing a threat to their life or is very dangerous to their health. 2. The condition should be one which may continue to occur. This means that the affected child's condition is not going to go away in a couple of months or years, but will occur year after year. 3. All other possibilities of treatments should have been explored. This means that all other options, such as using an unrelated donor, should have been considered and tested before choosing to have another child to be a family donor. 4. The techniques should not be available where the intended recipient is a parent. This means that the saviour sibling should not be born if their blood is going to be used for the parent; it should only be for their brother or sister. 5. The intention should be to take only cord blood for purpose of the treatment, not other tissues or organs. This means that the saviour sibling cannot be used as a spare parts bank - only cord blood is allowed for the treatment of their brother or sister.

  4. Arguments for and against-christian viewpoint The romans catholic -views-As with the Church's position on Designer Babies, the Church is already against IVF and PGD because embryos are destroyed . To create a Saviour Sibling using PGD, you have to destroy totally healthy embryos, just because they are not a donor match, which the Catholic Church would see as murder. Christian teaching would be ; ‘before you were born, I knew you in the womb’ The church of England- they’re less strict but has the same view's. Church of England believe in the Christian teaching ‘love your neighbour as you love yourself’ because Jesus himself taught compassion.
