NCATE Overall Planning for Visit • Professional development for NCATE committee members (AACTE/NCATE Institutional Orientation, faculty retreats, consultants, meetings) • Make accreditation activities and documentation part of regular life of unit • Work with standards groups to conduct initial scan of unit’s alignment with standards • Keep conceptual framework, assessment system, and data at forefront of work

NCATE Preparation for Pre-visit • Extremely critical component of process • Purpose of pre-visit • Be well prepared for pre-visit • Draft Institutional Report submitted to chair in advance of pre-visit – writing and editing of report • Status of program reviews ready to discuss • Support documentation/exhibit room well underway • Draft interview schedule ready for review • Campus and hotel logistics ready to discuss

NCATE Preparation for Site Visit • Determine type of exhibit room • Identify and clearly label evidence for each standard/element • Plan Sunday evening event/poster session • Obtain confirmation not once but twice for interviews, school visits, class observations • Identify volunteers – you’ll need help! (e.g., exhibits, drivers, escorts, copiers)

  15. NCATE Site Visit Follow-up • Plan celebration of work that has been accomplished • Express appreciation to all involved • Submit rejoinder • Take AFIs seriously and use AFIs to plan next steps
