  1. Activities • Protect the TAS from moving in a Sector3-4 incident at the vicinity • Shield the ATLAS cavern from the tunnel  allow work during Phase-II commissioning • Assure the desired overpressure of UX15 required from RP • Improve the access to the TAS tunnel area • Prepare installation for water cooling in view of high-luminosity running  ALARA • Similar works for CMS?  M. Gastal • Works to improve (solve) the alignment procedure of the TAS - inside the UX15 Works on ATLAS TAS ICL Meeting CERN, June 16, 2009 Overall coordination: S. Evrard Works: EN-MEF (FSU), ATLAS I. Efthymiopoulos, EN-MEF

  2. ATLAS TAS monoblock craddle TAS • Safety review recommendations • support an overpressure of 110mbar • Shield UX15  overpressure of 50Pa Gaps that must be shielded

  3. ATLAS TAS Shielding proposal D. Mladenov, R. Vuillermet, I.E

  4. ATLAS TAS Shielding proposal D. Mladenov, R. Vuillermet, I.E

  5. ATLAS TAS Shielding proposal

  6. ATLAS TAS Shielding proposal • Outer ring (monoblock - cradle) is fixed – no movements • Inner dome connects the cradle to the vacuum pipe • allows ±15mm movements (alignment) and +5-6mm dilatation during bake-out • assures tightness using mylar foil around the vacuum pipe Open issues: • TAS cooling without air flow  calculations ongoing (Ans Pardons/EN-MEF), prepare for cooling in case is needed • Access to bake-out equipment  may have to open the dome each time • ALARA is respected

  7. TAS/Q1 area Improve access • Complete passage in sector 1-2 • Replace wooden platform sector 8-1 • Works executed by EN-MEF FSU • supervisor : Albert Masson (FSU) • Overall coordination: Sebastien Evrard
