  1. Rockwell Collins CDU Value Stream Cadence Input October 14, 2008

  2. Accomplishments CRJ-1000 • Create QBS and HAS • 10/07/08: QBS ready for review, need NWA to complete • 11/11/08: NWA available • 12/02/08: HAS: mostly drafted. Brent waiting on several inputs to finish it. QBS: Brent will have out for review by end of week • 12/9/08: QBS - Brent is working and expects to have out for review by noon today. HAS - still has not heard back on the inputs he needs to finish the document. • 01/06/09: QBS with DQE. Brent to create separate HAS for CRJ and ARJ • 1/13/09: QBS ok'd by DER • 2/10/09; Brent to check on QBS release • 2/24/09: QBS has been published, HAS is half completed for both, need about 20 hrs to complete • 6/9/09: This work to follow ATM HCIA effort • 9/10/09: Brent to locate CRJ Systems test report • 10/08/09: Complete

  3. Accomplishments CDU-4100 HVPS • 8/4/09: 3 high volt power supplies failed at the customer. Delamination on one of them. MLB is working, but may require Engineering support. • 8/13/09: Delamination is under control, still working R3 leaking • 9/24/09: Fix for R3 appears effective, 90 units tested w/o failure. Complete

  4. Key Discussion Items/Issues • CDU LCD Displays have Lead Free Solder • Products have been shipping this way for 7 years • This affects all CDUs with LCD shipped and to be shipped • A mitigation plan is in process to resolve this issue • 90 day clock has been started, we have until 11/17, to avoid a stop ship • The CDU was verified for flammability for 787, except the LCD portion. Plans are to complete that test in the near term. This plan will correlate with the HDDC LCD Display products who have the same issues.

  5. Key Discussion Items/Issues • Bombardier dissatisfied with the field reliability of the CDU-6000 - CRT unit no longer in production (used on CL-604) • MTBF/MTBUR dropped just below target (approx. 3300 hrs. vs. 4000 hrs.)/3000hrs. vs. 3600 hrs.) • Drivers are the HVPS, A1R200 and A1R201 (video card), and potentiometers • All have been addressed and SBs written with 52%-60% penetration • Drop in flight hours impacting MTBF change rate • Still having issues with A1R200 and A1R201 • “Dry” (low current) circuit. CAE recommended temp. cycling to precipitate failure • Units in temp. chamber to try and repeat failure/evaluate alternate • Product still running with no failures

  6. Financials – Project ID Budget Plan vs. Actual) • FY09 Budget: $xxxx • FY09 Actuals: $xxxx • FY09 EAC Forecast: $xxxx • Note: EAC Forecast should not be entered in SAP without budget, it is just a heads-up that unless actions are taken, the present budget is at risk

  7. VARIANCE EXPLANATION : EAC - Budget • Cause of Variance: Lead Free/Vapor Arc • Impact if don’t increase budget: Stop Ship • Possible mitigation plans: Testing @ Test Corp • Assistance Needed: Unknown, except funding will be required.

  8. 30-Day Near Term/180-Day Major Milestones
