  2. What is a Discipleship Now Weekend? • A discipleship now weekend is designed to help change students through exercises such as community service and biblical teaching. • I was placed in Hawkinsville to help with community service around the church area and lead a group in biblical studies.

  3. Hawkinsville • Hawkinsville is one of those places on the map no one really sees, because it is so small. • During my time in Hawkinsville we helped around the church area.

  4. Playground Site • We did a lot of work in a playground area located to the far right corner of the church grounds.

  5. The Garage • My sole mission on the trip was to clear out a garage that was full of miscellaneous items. • I think I did a good job.

  6. The Team • I was put with a select few individuals who were between the ages of 12-18. • I caught them a little off guard.

  7. The Front Lawn • The team worked together on the front lawn for a long time because there was so much that needed to be cleaned up. • We totaled over 88 garbage bags from leaves to sticks that were compiled. • In the picture is a section of the yard that was completed.

  8. Beyond Community Service • After we worked around the church area we went to some retirement homes. While at the homes, we spent time with elderly couples and invested building relationships and talking with people. • When we got done with the retirement home we went back to the church to cultivate for dinner prepared by some select few (myself) and others.

  9. Why did I help out? • Doing community service and building relationships with people younger than me is my passion. • I love being in an environment that challenges me to build patience and endurance through vigorous activities that could be strenuous.

  10. In Conclusion • I learned that people younger than me look up to me more than I know. I am challenged each and every day to build relationships even when I am not serving. • Helping other people helps me become a better individual and challenges me to higher my standards for living.
