2. What do we do? We work in partnership to protect children and young people from exploitation – from the e-world to the real world

Aims and Objectives • To identify, locate and protect children and young people from sexual exploitation and online abuse – both in the UK and globally • To engage and empower children, young people, parents and the community through information and education • To protect children and young people through the provision of specialist information and support to professionals families and industry and community • To enforce the law by bringing offenders to justice and acting to disrupt and deter future offending • To enhance existing responses to the sexual exploitation and online abuse of children and young people by developing a safe by design online environment and refining the management of offenders

7. Achievements • 112 children rescued from abuse • 173 offenders arrested • 12 of UK’s high risk offenders located • 3 organised paedophile rings smashed • 5 of 8 “most wanted” located • 5,553 referrals • 1.1m children/young people trained - UK (11-16) • 4,700 trainers delivering TUK

8. TUK - Statistics • 55% access the internet everyday • 47% for an hour or more • 21% liked IM/Chat the most • 15% used gaming sites • 11% used Social Networking sites • 33% had access in their bedrooms • 25% have met someone offline • 83% have taken another child
