  3. TIP: Make sure your work space is free of dust after you are done sanding your tile. Step 1: Sand all the rough edges off of the tile with the sander. Step 2: Wipe off all the dust with the damp cloth.

  4. TIP: Remember to work from the edge of the fabric to conserve your materials. Step 3: Measure the width at 4 ¼ inches. Measure the height at 4 ¼ inches. Step 4: Draw a line marking the edges of the square you measured.

  5. TIP: Be careful not to burn yourself! You can use a ruler to smooth out the felt onto the tile if you don’t want to touch the felt with your hands. Step 6: Use hot glue to put glue down around the edges of the tile and a large x in the middle of the tile. Place the felt onto the tile and smooth it out so that it lies flat. Step 5: Use your scissors to cut out your square.

  6. TIP: Place a piece of foil under your tile to create a workspace. You will keep your coaster on the foil until it dries and the final step is completed. Step 7: Gather your materials to place the snowflake onto your coaster. Step 8: Use the sponge brush to brush a fine layer of ModgePodge onto the top of the tile.

  7. TIP: Make sure that everyone places their snowflake on their tile in the same position as yours. These four tiles will make one coaster set! Step 10: Brush a heavy layer of ModgePodge onto the top of the tile and the snowflake. Cover this space thoroughly! Be careful not to move your snowflake as you brush it. Step 9: Center the snowflake on the tile.

  8. TIP: Keep your tile on the foil somewhere safe in your classroom until it is completely dry. Mrs. Spear will spray all the tiles with a water resistant sealant before you assemble the coasters for sale. Step 11: Your completed tile should look similar to the one pictured below. Last step: Your finished product will look like this when it dries!
