Brief Historical Review • In April 1988, Communication Technology Promotion Council examined the feasibilities to establish a Civilian Standardization Organization - to cope global trends, Privatization, Competition, Deregulation, - to cope the requests for the opening of Korea telecom market, - to promote civilian standardization activities in Korea. • December 1988, Establishment of TTA ( by the Article 32, Civil Law ) • August 1992, Re-establishment of TTA ( by the Article 30, The Framework Act on Telecommunications ) - Accredited as Standardization Organization by MOC • Launching the Testing service (Dec. 2001)- Network eq., Software, Digital broadcasting eq., Mobile comm. - TTA moved to new office in Bundang, Kyunggi province. Testing and Certification Services • TTA’s testing & certification services started in December 2001 • Internationally accredited testing Lab • - ISO 17025 accreditation for bluetooth and CDMA area • Testing & Certification Service Area • - Network Equipments(Ethernet, ATM, Router, WLAN, ADSL, VoIP, Bluetooth, • Mobile Phone Charger, etc) • - Software(Component, Mobile, Embedded, Web-based S/W, etc) • - Digital Broadcasting Equipments(DVB-MHP, OpenCable, Digital TV STB, etc) • - Mobile Communication(AMPS, CDMA, PCS, GSM/GPRS) • - Mobile Operator’s Service Quality(Call /Drop, Voice and Internet Data Quality) • Open Lab Service • - To provide the testing environment for Network Equipment testing • (Ethernet, ATM, MPLS, IPv6, VoIP, ADSL, etc.) • - To lease the testing equipments and reference equipment GSC-8, OTTAWA

Testing and Certification Services • Certification Logos of TTA Certifying that the product has met the certification criteria prepared by the local/foreign standardization organizations Verifying that the product has met the requirements requested by the client Confirming that the product has been tested in accordance with the test spec. prepared by the TTA and the client Certifying that the product has met the requirements specified in the Quality Certification Standards of Software Verifying that the product has met the requirements set forth by the ‘Up-to-Spec’ standards of the Tolly Group Verifying that the product has met the requirements set forth by the ‘Tolly verified’ standards of the Tolly Group Certifying S/W products met the standards in the areas of functionality, platform compatibility and usability by VeriTest and TTA • Partnership • - The Tolly Group (USA) (Network Area), VeriTest (USA) (S/W Area) • - Provides joint testing service and Issues Joint-Certification Logo • Co-operation with related Organizations • -CDG in the Cellular Phone sector, CableLabs for Digital Cable TV • - TUV Rheinland and CETECOM for BQTF Establishment GSC-8, OTTAWA

Testing and Certification Services • Interoperable Open Network Workshop & Exhibition • - Started in 1992 and held every year for 10 years • - Was the only IOP-specialized event in Korea • - Changed it’s style to practical IOP event like ETSI’s Plugtest this year • ION2002 • - was held six times at the Open Lab in 2002 • - Subjects covered in ION2002: VoIP, Wi-Pi, IPv6, MHP, VPN • - In total, 60 manufacturers participated in those events • - Results: IOP conform, debugging, and advertising the products • International Cooperation • - Cooperation with ETSI in Plugtest event (IPv6 in 2003) • - Lead the ASTAP IOP WG activity GSC-8, OTTAWA
