  3. How to access the Admin Console • The Admin console can be accessed via a web browser leveraging 2 methodologies: • Navigating via ePace menus • Direct URL formatted as: http://[appliance_ip]/help/ • Direct URL navigation is important to keep on hand – when accessing the admin console the ePace application may not be available. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  4. Navigating the Admin Console • Navigation bars across the screen allow for filtering the detail list. • The default view is “Show All” • Within a menu item, return to the main menu by selecting “Return to Main Help Page”. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  5. The Configuration Utility • Allows the modification of various appliance configuration options: • Emailer: • Allows the definition of the address to copy automatic emails to and the display name of the automatic emailer. • Scheduling Updater • Only applies if you have advanced scheduling. • Allows the definition of the IP address/port of the scheduler computer. • SSL – Secure Socket Layer • Allows the configuration of SSL on the ePace appliance. • Must upload certificates, ePace will not generate them for you. • ePace will listen on port 443 and port 80 as it does now – therefore to force encryption to the appliance, you must block port 80. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  6. The Configuration Utility (Cont.) • UPS User Information • Allows for the configuration of UPS account information for use with ePace eService dynamic freight calculations. • Instructions on how to acquire the needed information from UPS is located here. • Webapp Url Creator • Allows the configuration of the base of any URL ePace sends via an email. • Contains 4 separate definitions for each “web”. • The FQDN should be modified for your specific network configuration as needed. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  7. System Logs • The last several days of any given log file are accessible via text files which can be downloaded or opened directly. • The last several weeks of any given log are accessible via the .tar.gz file. • Many applications can open this type of compressed file. • Log files do not refresh in a browser automatically. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  8. Import / Export Interface Logs • Contains various log files relating to: • Scheduling Exporter • Only applicable to Advanced Scheduler. • Supplies information relating to errors in the scheduler export/import. Level of detail depends on EDI log level in job planning setup. • Estimating Importer • Contains XML Job Importer Data. • Single Object Import (S.O.I.) • Logs the information which is presented in the GUI during an SOI import. • Tricoder (Wireless) Inventory Import • Only applicable to the Wireless Inventory Unit. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  9. Crystal Clear Logs • What can I use this information for? • Troubleshooting custom reports. • Ensuring custom reports function without any issues. • There are so many files – which one am I looking for? • The admin console link will go to an area containing all log files. • The crystal clear log files are formatted as “crystalclear-YYYY-MM-DD.log”. • To Troubleshoot a report, a specific time the report run attempt was made is helpful as this is logged. • The log file contains all report execution attempts and all data through report rendering. • The log file will likely be large – downloading may be preferred to perform any analysis. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  10. Default Logs • What can I use this information for? • Troubleshooting API Calls, Events, PaceConnects and other Customizations. • Possible Scripting of various operations. • There are so many files – which one am I looking for? • default = forms, screens and processes • api = API • estimating = estimating calculations • Events = event triggers • last.XXX = various state information • PaceConnect = PaceConnect logs • The log file will likely be large – downloading may be preferred to perform any analysis. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  11. Printer Configuration • Allows the configuration of network printers via The Common UNIX Printing System, CUPS. • Navigation of the CUPS interface – All links lead to the same destinations! • Do Administration Tasks Links • Navigation Bar • Other Links • Help and Software links give little additional information to the administrator. • ePace currently does not support CUPS class functionality. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  12. CUPS – Jobs • When a request to print is made in ePace, it becomes a job in CUPS. • Managing jobs is similar to Windows printer queue: • Allows the pause and cancellation of active or queued jobs. • Allows a previously printed job to be reprinted. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  13. CUPS – Printers • The status of a printer is determined by color and “Printer State”. • Printers can be stopped and restarted when they are no longer responding. • Printer configuration can be refined via “Modify Printer”. • Printer options can be set via “Configure Printer”. • A test page can be sent to a printer to ensure proper operation. • The default setting has no effect in ePace. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  14. CUPS – Add Printer • Detailed information relating to adding a new printer can be found in the ePace knowledgebase. • Initial Configuration: • Name - A descriptive name - this shall appear in ePace. • Location - The IP address of the printer. • Description – Used within CUPS for descriptive purposes only. • Device, Device URI, Make and Model - set as appropriate. • Test the printer when done. • Configure in ePace. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  15. CUPS Q & A www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  16. Interfaces • Reset Single Data Collection Keypad • Allows a keypad to be reset when it is no longer responding. • Requires address / terminal number of keypad. • Restart Serial Keypad Data Collection • Allows a reset of the serial keypad subsystem when all keypads stop responding or Support has requested this be executed to correct a keypad related issue. • Execute ePace EDI • Allows the manual initiation of various Imports / Exports thereby negating the normal schedule. • This is normally performed for troubleshooting purposes. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  17. Performing a backup • Initiating a backup will perform all backup related steps normally performed during the scheduled daily backup. • This is useful as a safeguard prior to an upgrade or prior to significant changes on an appliance, such as a large Single Object Import. • Initiating a CD backup will copy the most recent backup to CD. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  18. Restarting Services • What can be restarted and why would I restart a service? • ePace • In the event ePace becomes unresponsive, restarting the application may correct the error. • ePace Reporting • In the event reports stop responding or unexplainable output occurs, restarting this may correct the error. • Apache • This allows the restart of the web server sending the ePace web pages and should only be restarted when recommended by a support specialist. • The service restart screen also displays information relating to the last restart performed. • When possible, contact Support prior to restarting a service to allow for an investigation to begin. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…

  19. Other Utilities • System Status – displays the various services and their states • All services should always show “Running” during normal operation. • Test Appliance Emailer – Allows an administrator to test the emailing function within the appliance to ensure proper operation • Recommend this be initiated after any configuration change to mail server or appliance configuration as well as post upgrade. www.pace2020.com | See the possibilities…
