  2. Miniature Circuit Breakers to UL 489 • What is UL 489? • UL 489 is the UL Standard for Safety for Molded-case Circuit Breakers, Molded-case Switches and Circuit Breaker Enclosures. The requirements are specifically intended to provide Service Entrance, Feeder and Branch Circuit Protection in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. • The 5SJ4 series of Miniature Circuit Breakers meet the requirements for Branch Circuit or Feeder Protection and are intended to protect electrical wires from catching fire in an application.

  15. 5SJ4_HG MCB Accessories • Auxiliary Switch (AS) and Fault Signal Contact Advantages • Siemens Miniature Circuit Breakers do not have to be derated • Siemens Auxiliary Switch and Fault Signal Contacts are UL Listed and Certified to Canadian Standards to 480 VAC maximum. • Many Competitive Auxiliary Switches and Fault Signal Contacts when used with a MCB require the MCB to be derated to 300 VAC Maximum. • This means that many competitive MCBs DO NOT have Auxiliary Devices available at 480 VAC. • Siemens 1NO + 1NC contacts are separate and can be used at the same time • Many Competitive Auxiliary Switches have a Form C contact. • A Form C contact can be used as a NO or a NC, but not both at the same time.
