  7. Reducing Disparities • DMH has executed five contracts to form five Strategic Planning Workgroups (SPW) representing five populations: • African American, Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American, and LGBTQ • The five SPWs are to gather information from the communities they represent to develop a Reducing Disparities (RD) Population Report that will identify outreach strategies and service interventions that are the most effective for their respective populations • Over the last year, the five SPWs convened focus groups, community meetings, and advisory groups • Each of the five SPWs are currently in the process of analyzing data and compiling their findings into the Population Reports • These reports are due to DMH in February 2012 • The Population Reports will form the foundation of the comprehensive statewide strategic plan to reduce disparities in the mental health system

  8. Reducing Disparities (continued) • A sixth contractor, the CRDP Facilitator/Writer, is working collaboratively with the five SPW Project Managers to ensure that the final strategic plan is inclusive of the work completed by the SPWs • The CA Reducing Disparities Strategic Plan will be developed over the next year, with the final strategic plan due June 30, 2012 • A seventh contractor has the responsibility for convening the CA MHSA Multicultural Coalition (CMMC).
