  2. Background Information • 13,000 people die a year because of power plant air pollution. • There are a listed 614 coal-fired power plants in the U.S • The listed coal plants have a total of 1,522 coal-fired generating units. • They also have a total of 335,831 Megawatts of production capacity • the total U.S. electric capacity of 1,075,677 MW, coal provided 31.2% of U.S. electric capacity in 2005 – second to natural gas (41.2%) in the share of U.S. power capacity, and far ahead of nuclear (9.8%), hydroelectric (7.2%), oil (6.0%), or renewable (2.5%).

  3. Causes and EffectsHow will what you do change your local environment?

  4. 5W’s and an H

  5. Resources CitedWhere did you get your information from? Put the name of the place where you got the information, the URL and date you found it on the Web, publisher, page numbers, etc. • radiation risks • source watch • Huffington post

  6. HypothesisWrite a hypothesis about how you think this change will help your environment and your ecological issue. Sample: Most commonly, hypotheses take three formats: a question, "Does temperature affect fermentation?" a conditional statement, "Temperature may affect fermentation." an If, then statement, "If fermentation rate is related to temperature, then increasing the temperature will increase gas production.

  7. ExperimentDesign an experiment to test your hypothesis 1. turn things off when leaving a room2. Investigate your topic-conduct background research. 3. Identify the problem -figure out what you want to know or explain. 4. Form a hypothesis. 5. Create an experiment-determine how you will find data to learn what you want to know or explain. 6. Perform the experiment-collect data about your topic. 7. Write your report-give a review of your entire process from your background research to your experimental results. 8. Make a Web 2.0 Presentation regarding your hypothesis, research, experiment, data and conclusion.Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/3100043
