  2. Description of Job • A police officer has a lot of responsibilities such as safety, crime scenes, helping others and other important things. Police officers have to deal with a lot of math. Formulas are used to get answers for the investigations.

  3. Math Courses Needed for This Job • •MATH 106 Finite Mathematics (3) or a higher-level math course •Required statistics course (3 credits): STAT 200 • •ECON 103 Economics in the Information Age (3)or other behavioral and social sciences course

Examples of Math in this field Accounting, Budgeting and Financial Fraud Investigation for example managing prisons Percentages for example measuring the amount of alcohol or illegal drugs Distances and Speeds for example calculating the speed and rate of travel Weights and Measures for example measuring the pounds of the drugs that the person has Statistics and Probabilities for example report the amount of crimes

  7. Reflect Becoming a police officer is hard because there is a lot of math in this field. Geometry and Algebra are two main topics on math that is being used. Nothing really surprised me because I know a little about this and it takes a lot of responsibility and courage to do this job. I know about algebra and I don’t know anything about geometry. If I wanted to become a police officer I would have to work on my math to do this job.
