English Language Arts English Language Arts 30-1 Text Selection and Assessment Project Alberta Education has begun work with previously nominated Assessment committee/working group members on the English Language Arts 30-1 Text Selection and Assessment Project. Participation will occur during the 2011–2012 and 2012–2013 school years, beginning with an information session on January 26, 2012, in Edmonton and running from February 2012 to March 2013. Classroom Teacher Summer Symposiums Re: Vision and Hearing University of Alberta in partnership with Alberta Education is offering Summer Symposiums for Classroom Teachers of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing • August 23 and 24 in Edmonton but with access through facilitated video conference to other locations. Summer Symposiums for Classroom Teachers of Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired will be held in: • Grande Prairie on August 22 • Red Deer on August 27 • Lethbridge on August 28.  Details on registration and location to follow. School Libraries Transition A draft revised School Library Services Policyis currently being reviewed by Alberta Education in consideration of future curriculum development as outlined in Our Children Our Future:  Getting it Right, Framework for Student Learning:  Competencies for Engaged Thinkers and Ethical Citizens with an Entrepreneurial Spiritand the GOA Integrated Library Policy in development.  The learning commons perspective is developed through a plan that is part of the whole school plan and focused on student learning outcomes.
