  1. VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS) Update Presentation for Department of VA CSR Conference Presented By Raven Thompson Director, Payroll and HR Systems Service (PHRSS) 8/19/14

  2. Introducing VATAS • What is VATAS? • The Veterans Affairs Time and Attendance System is an automated, centralized, web-based time and attendance system developed to replace the legacy Enhanced Time and Attendance (ETA) system.

  3. Introducing VATAS • Why Is VATAS Important? • VATAS provides a modern time and attendance system that quickly and accurately transmits data, allows for the rapid creation of reports, and establishes a flexible foundation for future enhancements. • Enforces compliance with Federal guidelines and VA policy governing Title 5 and Title 38 leave policies.

  4. Introducing VATAS • What Does This Mean for You? • Point-and-click user interface which will allow you to intuitively navigate throughout the system. • Time and attendance information accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—from any Internet connection. • Employees can track status of leave and premium pay requests • Leave and premium pay requests will automatically post to your timesheet as soon as they are approved by your supervisor or TL Approver.

  5. Introducing VATAS • How Is VATAS Different From ETA? • Provides VA with a centralized and standardized system, which will eliminate VA’s use of 150 distributed systems • Timekeepers have the capability to enter proxy leave requests on behalf of employees • Built-in validation checks • Eliminates need for timekeepers to manually track credit hours, compensatory time for travel, continuation of pay, restored annual leave, advanced leave, and voluntary leave balances—as all of these items are prominently displayed in VATAS on the Leave Balance screen. • Computerized SF/OPM Form 71 for requesting leave and, upon approval, leave request automatically posts to timesheets

  6. Introducing VATAS • What Should You Expect? • The VATAS Project Team will support you through this implementation process through a robust Help Desk and by providing: • Role-based Training (Classroom and Web-based TMS) • Reference Materials (User Manual and Quick Guides) • Timely communications (Kickoff Announcements, Fact Sheet and FAQs)
