The SEEYN (a) • The SEEYN was founded on the ICFTU Youth Network meeting for Central and Eastern Europe in Slovakia, in December 2000, Four sub-regions: Baltic, SEE, Central eastern and NIS • On the SEEYN meeting, in Croatia (October 2001), the SEEYN has been established (HR, BiH, AL, MK, SR, CG, UNMIK) • In May 2005, in Montenegro, the SEEYN was enlarged to the Trade Union partner organizations in Romania and Bulgaria • Aleksandra Vitorovic, was selected to be the SEEYN Coordinator and consultations on the selection of the new coordinator are among the SEE PERC affiliates underway

The SEEYN (b) The SEEYN members are: • BSPSH (Albania) • KSSH (Albania) • KSBiH SSSBiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina) • KSBiH SSRS (Bosnia and Herzegovina) • SSSH (Croatia) • NHS (Croatia) • BSPSK (UNMIKosovo) • SSCG (Monenegro) • Nezavisnost (Serbia) • SSSS (Serbia) • SSM (Macedonia) • KNSB (Bulgaria) • Potkrepa (Bulgaria) • BNS (Romania) • CNSLR – Fratia (Romania) • CARTEL-ALFA (Romania • UNASM (Macedonia)

The SEEYN (c) SEEYN objectives: • To discuss national and regional issues of concern to young workers • To identify ways of cooperation on cross-border projects that build solidarity between young workers regionally and to plan future cooperative actions • To train young workers to work on organizing and recruitment • To take part in developing of adequate education policies • To further develop regular communication and information sharing among network members • To openly discuss the sensitive issues of distrust and conflict that have divided communities in the region

The SEEYN (d) The position of young peopel and possibilities for action: • Young peopel in SEE are faced with a difficult reality • Limited possibilities for education, high unemployment, informal economy and influence of corruption on public life leads young workers towards apathy. • The Trade Union movement in SEE has started to give significance to the needs ofyoung peopel in the society and the Trade Union movement • Young Trade Union leaders and activists made first steps in organizing TU youth structures and networks in order to play a stronger role in their Trade Unions and entire society

  6. SEE Youth Network activities: • Forums • Youth gatherings “SEED” • Seminars • Working meetings on trilateral level • Workshops • Conferences • Preparation of Expertise • Campaigns • Web site • Data base development

The SEEYN (e) The SEE.Y.Net project • Members of the network started to prepare a project proposal in 2005, with the help of the FES • The applicant is ETOSZ (Hungary) and the project is supported by the EU and FES • ITUC PERC is a partner organisation in the project • The project includes Trade Union organizations and their youth structures from 10 countries and territories • Main activities: a) national activities b) training on campaigning and youth emplyoment policies c) Joint regional campaign on 20 of June 2007.
