  3. Browsers Internet Explorer Safari Mozilla Firefox - software application which enables a user to display and interact with text, images, videos, music and other information typically located on the Web.

  4. Search Engines - A search engine searches for information on the world wide web. They give a list of websites that they think may contain the information you are looking for.

  5. URL- Uniform Resource Locater • Domain Names • .com • .net • .edu • .gov • .org • The URL goes in the address bar at the top of the page. URL - A compact string of characters used to represent a resource available on the Internet.

  8. VIRUS -is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user. Trojan Horse -also known as a trojan, is malware that appears to perform a desirable function but in fact performs undisclosed malicious functions.

E-MAIL -is a store-and-forward method of writing, sending, receiving and saving messages over electronic communication systems. -E-mail is often used to deliver bulk unsolicited messages, or "spam", but filter programs exist which can automatically block, quarantine or delete some or most of these, depending on the situation. Boolean Operators • When searching for two words put parentheses around them to search specifically for those words together. • EX] when you are looking for giant squid put it in parentheses and the search will come up with things only about giants squids. (giant squid) • Giant or squid • Finds articles that discuss either giants or squids. • Giants and squid     This search finds articles that compare jazz and blues. • Giants not squid     This search finds articles that are exclusively about jazz.     NOT always excludes records with the specified term.
