  1. Welcome to YSU! Transfer Student Orientation for Distance Students

  2. Getting Started • New transfer students must be advised and cleared for registration. • Contact your YSU advisor after you receive your acceptance letter from YSU. • Advisors: • Mary Ellen Munroe: • memunroe@ysu.edu • (330)941-3280

  3. Getting Started • Go to www.ysu.edu and login to MyYSU. • Your user name is usually your first and middle initials and your last name. • Your initial password should be 4 digits—the month and day of your birth date. • You are required to change your password after your initial login.

  4. Use MyYSU to: • Send and receive email • Receive YSU announcements • View and accept your financial aid • Register for classes • View your transcript • View and pay your bill • Access Blackboard • Access library services

  5. Registering for Classes • Check your YSU email for courses approved by your advisor. • Use your YSU email for all future correspondence. • Go to e-Services for Students. • View and print Registration Instructions. • Register for classes.

  6. IMPORTANT • Major and minor classes must be taken for a grade and must be completed with a C or better. • Be sure to submit changes! • Check your schedule and print a copy for your records.

  7. Technical and Registration Help • For login or computer issues—contact the Tech Desk at 330-941-1595 • If you receive a testing or prerequisite error when registering, contact your advisor. • For other registration issues, contact the Registrar’s office at 330-941-3178.

  8. Class Locations • If you register for the videoconferencing classes you will see the YSU main campus building and room number on your schedule. • Students can find the Lorain CCC class locations by viewing the monitors suspended from the wall in University Center at LCCC. • Lakeland CC classes locations can be found in the atrium of the Holden Center.

  9. Financial Aid • If you are taking courses at another college or university while a student at YSU and are using financial aid to pay for those courses, you must submit an AD HOC consortium agreement to the YSU Financial Aid office with a copy of your schedule and bill from the other institution. Download the form at http://cfweb.cc.ysu.edu/finaid/index.cfm.

  10. Financial Aid • The primary financial aid contact for distance students is Gina McHenry. gcmchenry@ysu.edu or (330)941-1594.

  11. Books • Books for your courses can be purchased online from the YSU bookstore at http://www.ysubookstore.com/. • Lorain CCC students should also be able to purchase required books at the Lorain CCC bookstore.

  12. To access your online courses using Blackboard 9 • Instructions for logging into Blackboard 9 and adding the course to your homepage are available at:    http://ondemand.blackboard.com/

  13. Blackboard 9 • For help using Blackboard, contact the Instructional Technology Center at 330.941.3244 or the YSU Tech Desk at 330.941.1595. Courses may not be ready to add until the first day of the semester.

  14. Important Dates • Please take note of important dates: • Last day to add a class or change grading option • Last day to withdraw from a class with a grade of “W” • Last day to apply for graduation These dates can be found at http://web.ysu.edu/registrar/ • The last day to withdraw and receive a reduction in charges can be found by going into Student Accounts on MyYSU.

  15. More information • A YSU ID will be issued to you after the first week of class. • You can access library services through MyYSU at http://www.maag.ysu.edu/. For login instructions go to http://www.maag.ysu.edu/newmaaglogon.html.

  16. More Information • You are entitled to all the rights and privileges of on campus YSU students including free admission to sporting events and use of campus facilities. You must present your ID.
