  4. Career Prep • English I, II, III, IV • Algebra I, two Math Electives • A Physical Science, Biology, Earth Science • Civics/Economics, World History, US History • Health/PE • Four Pathway Courses (one * course) • Thirteen Electives • TOTAL = 28 CREDITS

  5. College Tech Prep Graduation Requirements:-English I, II, III, IV-Algebra I and either Geometry & Algebra II OR Tech Math I & II-A Physical Science, Biology, Earth Science -Civics, World History, US History-Health/PE-Four Pathway Courses (one * course)-Ten Electives -TOTAL = 28 CREDITS

  6. College/University Prep Graduation Requirements:-English I, II, III, IV-Algebra I, Geo, Alg. II, and a math beyond Alg. II (Adv. Funct, Pre-Cal, AP Cal, AP Statistics)-A Physical Science, Biology, Earth Science -Civics, World History, US History-Health/PE -Foreign Language (2 credits in same language) -Eleven Electives -TOTAL = 28 CREDITS

Senior picture/yearbook info. • Senior make-up pictures = Oct. 7th {Sitting fee = $28 (only if you want instant proofs)- you need to have your picture made for the yearbook even if you don’t want to order any pictures} Cap & Gown proofs will not be back until February. • Order yearbooks online NOW @ jostensyearbooks.com! (will get a mailer or see Mrs. Maxwell) • Senior Ads – due to Mrs. Maxwell by Nov. 6th (can pay in two payments) – get more than one application if you have other family members who will want to buy one & see Mrs. Maxwell for that application or if you did not receive the mailer

  8. Star Groups and Announcements: • Every three weeks for progress reports: • Dates for this semester: Oct. 9, Oct. 29, Nov. 20, Dec. 16, and Feb. 3 • Newsletters and other handouts from Mrs. Teague & Mrs. Murray • Information on Caps/Gowns, Invitations, Class Rings, etc. • MUST BE THERE

Additional Information • Transcripts = free to students –MHS will mail the final transcript and scholarship nominations only • College Code = 342-460 • College Day for seniors • College Night = September 24, 2009 6-8 pm • NCAA Clearinghouse- www.eligibilitycenter.org • Voter Registration & Selective Service • Senior information on board in Guidance lobby • Armed forces and college visits at lunch

Next Steps • Take the SAT at least twice(once the junior year and once in Oct. of the senior year) OR ACT once (end of junior year) • Apply to the college / community college of choice by Nov. 1st for early decision admissions (others complete at least one application by Thanksgiving) • Notify Mrs. Murray of acceptances and scholarships awarded • Financial Aid – on senior newsletter / FAFSA • Questions??? First Step in the Process: • Fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) www.fafsa.ed.gov What do you need to know for this: • Estimated Family Contribution-previous year tax return and other income information • Assets • Family Size • Number of students in college

Usually coordinated • through the college. **Strongly discourage paying any money towards information about scholarships or chances for Scholarships.**

  17. FAFSA Day Catawba Valley Community College will be hosting FAFSA Day February 13th, 2010 *You take your W2s and tax forms with you. A person from CFNC will be there to help you fill out the form and answer all your questions. You must register on the CVCC website (www.cvcc.edu) If you want to attend – after Oct. 15th.
