  2. Bridge Types • Beam Bridges: A bridge that is supported at each side by two (or more) bases.

  3. Arch Bridge: Bridge that is shaped like an arch and has two large bases.

  4. Suspension Bridge: Bridge that is suspended by cables. The most famous is the Golden Gate Bridge.

  5. Decorative Bridge: This type of bridge is used mainly for ceremonies and as decoration.

  6. Double Decker Bridge: This bridge has two seperate decks with six lanes on top and two on bottom.

  7. Historical Facts • The word Bridge comes from the Old English word brycg which means the same as bridge.

  8. Historical Facts • The first bridges were natural made such as log bridges made by trees.

  9. Historical Facts • One of the first official bridges ,Zhaozhou bridge, was constructed in the years 596-605

  10. Historical Facts • In India in the 4th century they used plaited bamboo and iron chain.

  15. Historical Facts • The Iron Bridge was invented in 1779 and revolutionized the way bridges were built.

  16. Historical Facts • The longest bridge in the world today is the Bang Na Expressway. The Bang Na stretches for 54,000 meters.
