In South African Culture the rainbow symbolises hope and a good future.
The rainbow is neither white nor black, which some people saw this as symbolising South Africa.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu said that the rainbow signified peace as in Noah’s Ark from The Bible.
The term ‘Rainbow Nation’ was created by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
It was created after Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
