In South African Culture the rainbow symbolises hope and a good future.
The rainbow is neither white nor black, which some people saw this as symbolising South Africa.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu said that the rainbow signified peace as in Noah’s Ark from The Bible.
The term ‘Rainbow Nation’ was created by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
It was created after Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
Nelson Mandela later said "Each of us is as intimately attached to the soil of this beautiful country as are the famous jacaranda trees of Pretoria and the mimosa trees of the bushveld - a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.“
Pretoria- One of the country\'s three capital cities.
