  3. ISSUES • LLRP does not remedy sedimentation / weed issues, nor all deteriorating infrastructure • Volunteer and fund raising fatigue • LLRP committee mandate expires 2012 year end

GRANT HILITES • Rehabilitation and Improvements for Recreation PurposesErosion + Debris = weed growth, siltation and poor water quality at the north end. • Environmental assessment and actions to improve water quality • Sediment dredging and debris clean up • Shoreline erosion control measures • Installation of additional aerators • Storm drain re-routing • Replacement of crumbling retaining walls that protect the bridge infrastructure

  6. GRANT HILITES • Code and Safety Improvements for Gibson HouseGibson House is an historical building in need of maintenance and restoration. • New energy efficient lighting and windows • Parking lot safety and accessibility improvements • New and accessible washroom facilities

GRANT HILITES • Lake Walkways and Landing ExtensionsLake Lisgar, along the TransCanada Trail, is the site of significant passive recreation use; our proposed enhancements will extend or improve existing public areas that have become too congested or otherwise unsafe. • Extension of walkways to behind Gibson House and in the area of the rowing dock • Revamping the public scenic landings at the north end to increase handicapped accessibility and safety • Expansion of sitting and picnic areas • Provision of safe lake access and landings for fishermen

  8. GRANT HILITES • Improvements for Public Safety and Tourism. The booms and netting in the area of the weir and overflow have deteriorated. Signage around the lake does not reflect the lake’s stature in our community. • Revamping of booms and netting • Additional signage

BACKGROUND MATERIAL LLRP UPDATE – PHASE 1 • Goals – Raise $27,500 – Improve water quality – Reduce sedimentation / weed growth • Accomplishments – $27,500 raised – Grants received: > TD Friends of Environment > RBC Bluewater Project – Rohrer pond dredged – Ambrus pond – permit received – Aeration Systems – 3 installed – Weed raking -- ongoing

BACKGROUND MATERIAL LLRP UPDATE – PHASE 2 • Goals – Raise $100,000– Improve Lake’s recreational attributes– Have Lake prioritized in the Parks and Rec Masterplan • Accompishments – $64,000 raised (to date)– 100 trout stocked– Events > Family Fishing Day > Turtlefest– Trillium Grant (in collaboration with rowing club)– New rowing dock and access ramp on order
