Review process 1

Review Process (1)

  • 234 Program Committee members, 149 external reviewers

  • Received 464 submissions

    • Authors chose track at submission time

    • In a few cases, we changed the track of a submission

  • First review round

    • Each paper assigned to 4 PC members

    • Vast majority of reviews completed

  • Second review round

    • Additional reviews for papers with < 4 first-round reviews

    • Supplementary reviews for papers with highly divergent opinions

    • VCs assigned more reviews to selected papers

Review process 2

Review Process (2)

  • PC members ranked the order of assigned papers

    • Instead of accept/reject recommendations

    • Goal: eliminate bias from narrow view of conference’s submissions

  • Online discussion among reviewers

  • Each track selected a set of top papers

    • 5 to 13 papers per track

    • Papers partially ordered within each track

  • TPC meeting – February 22nd in Redmond, WA – 8 hours

    • 10 vice chairs and program chair

    • Loose merge-sort of top papers from all tracks

    • Determined cutoff point for acceptance

    • 61 papers accepted – acceptance rate below 14%
