(Commercial Fire) • Effective date –October 1st, 2013. • A local enforcement agency (Pasco County) shall make available a permit label for purchase for $55.00 for installation or replacement of an existing alarm system. • Until January 1st. 2015 permits that cost more than $55.00 can be charged at the usual amount up to $175.00. • A local enforcement agency may not require a contractor, as a condition of purchasing a label, to submit information other than identification information of the licensee and proof of registration or certification as a contractor (No plans, address etc. required).

  21. Key Points in Florida Statute 553.793 regarding Low voltage alarm permits: • A label is good for one year. • Must be posted in a conspicuous place before commencing work. • Notice of commencement is not required. • Contractor must notify Agency within 14 days of completing work filing a Uniform notice of low voltage alarm system project of completion. • A local enforcement Agency (Pasco County) may take disciplinary action against a contractor who fails to timely submit a Uniform notice of low voltage alarm system project. • A low voltage alarm system may be inspected by the Agency (County). • If a low voltage alarm system fails an inspection, the contractor must take corrective action as necessary to pass. • Basically for Pasco County this permit would be used for Commercial burglar alarm systems only as we do not permit low voltage residential electric.
