  3. Ice Breaker…Getting to Know the Group • Form a group of three. • Write down two truths about yourself and a lie (personal and/or professional). • Introduce the three "facts" to your triad group who will try to guess which one is a lie.

Vision for Math CAMPPP 2009 Big Ideas of Functions Questioning to Evoke and Expose Thinking Deepening Understanding of Pedagogical Content Knowledge Responding to Provide Appropriate Scaffolding and Challenge Teaching for Conceptual Understanding Focusing on Important Mathematics Fearless Speaking and Listening Differentiated Instruction through Questioning Teaching through the Mathematical Processes Establishing Math Talk Learning Communities Effective Uses of Manipulatives and Technology Assessment for Learning Building Networks Within and Across Boards Engaging in Reflective Practice through Coaching Consistency and Alignment of Assessments of Learning

  5. Goals for Math CAMPPP 2009 Participants leave CAMPPP knowing that: • It is important to be conscious and explicit about the instructional decisions you make so that all students develop deeper understanding of the big ideas of mathematics, and their connection to the real world.

  6. Goals for Math CAMPPP 2009 Engaging all students • One way to engage all students is to differentiate instruction by posing parallel and open questions in all 3 parts of a 3-part lesson.

  7. Goals for Math CAMPPP 2009 Participants practice the following in a safe environment: • Posing parallel and open question • Posing scaffolding questions • Articulating big ideas in words appropriate for their grade band • Working collaboratively with colleagues and engaging in critical discourse in a math learning community

  8. Goals for Math CAMPPP 2009 Participants leave CAMPPP believing that: • Their students will be more successful once they implement CAMPPP concepts and skills • They would be wise to continue working collaboratively on CAMPPP concepts and skills

Networking Time • Monday to Thursday • Opportunity for campppers to get to know one another and engage in informal focused conversations • Areas available: • Second floor common area [sitting areas, pool tables, shuffleboard, etc] • Classrooms 2 and 3 [ tables & chairs for board games] in Bayview will be the social gathering space. Each evening around 8:30 p.m. snacks and ice will be provided. • Common space in Mardon Lodge

  24. Focused Breakout Selection • You will receive two cards • Green  first choice • Blue  second choice • Post your cards on the wall under the session title of your choice. • Participants will receive confirmation of their breakout selection following the plenary session.
