  1. Evolution Solar Photovoltaic Panels: Monocrystalline, Polycrystalline and Amorphous

  2. When it comes to family monthly expenses, one of the biggest portions is the expenses on utility services, which include electricity consumption. If people can reduce this electricity consumption to half or even alter it completely, a lot of families and homeowners can save thousands of dollars every year.

  3. One way to save money from electricity consumption is by using off-grid energy sources like solar energy.

  4. Solar energy is the energy emitted by the sun. It can be converted into electricity using photovoltaic panels otherwise known as solar panels.

  5. Photovoltaic panels are the tools developed to harness the sun’s energy through sunlight. • These panels charge the electrons positively and negatively by receiving the photons emitted from the sun’s light. The movement of the electrons produces electricity which are then stored through the solar energy collector and battery installed with the solar energy panels.

  6. Different Types of Photovoltaic Panels • Choosing the right photovoltaic panels to use and install is very important in order to efficiently utilize the energy and to save more money from using alternative energy.

  7. One of the most common types of solar panels used in various purposes and industries today is the Monocrystalline panels. These types of photovoltaic panels use single crystalline-based silicon sheet and are very efficient in terms of generating electricity from solar energy.

  8. Another type of solar energy panel is the Polycrystalline solar energy panels, which use multiple silicon sheets. Compared to the Monocrystalline panels, Polycrystalline photovoltaic panels are more affordable but they can also generate less electricity compared to the Monocrystalline panels.

  9. Aside from the crystalline-based photovoltaic panels, there is also another type of solar panels made from thin films.

  10. These types of solar panels are called Amorphous panels or simply thin film panels. Instead of manufacturing the solar panels using crystalline structure of the silicon materials, the silicon are instead directly applied as a thin film to the sheets used in harnessing the sunlight.

  11. Amorphous photovoltaic panels can be easily produced and manufactured that is why it is also more affordable compared to the crystalline-based photovoltaic panels. However, these types of solar panels are also the least efficient.

  12. Choosing the Right Photovoltaic Panels • When choosing the specific photovoltaic panels to install, it is important to consider your electricity needs, saving goals and your budget. As mentioned above, crystalline-based photovoltaic panels are the most energy efficient solar energy panels especially the Monocrystalline panels but they are also the most expensive.

  13. Thin film panels on the other are very affordable compared to the crystalline silicon solar panels but they are also less efficient therefore lessening your savings in the long run.

  14. If you really want to obtain large savings from electricity consumption, then investing in Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline panels can be a great option. The large upfront expenses will definitely be worth it especially if your monthly electricity bill is greatly reduced.

  15. These expensive photovoltaic panels are also manufactured with great quality and durability therefore you can also expect longer lifespan and usage compared to the affordable solar panels that are less efficient and may also require more maintenance.
