  2. UNIT6 Revising the Earth’s spheres The Earth’s spheres • The Earth is divided into four distinct spheres: The biosphere The atmosphere The geosphere The hydrosphere Click on each sphere to find out more Natural Science 2. Secondary Education

  3. UNIT6 Revising the Earth’s spheres The biosphere • The biosphere is made up of the planet’s living organisms. Go back to the start menu Natural Science 2. Secondary Education

  4. UNIT6 Revising the Earth’s spheres The atmosphere • The atmosphere is made up of the gases that surround the planet. Go back to the start menu Natural Science 2. Secondary Education

  5. UNIT6 Revising the Earth’s spheres The hydrosphere • The hydrosphere is made up of all of the water found on the planet. Go back to the start menu Natural Science 2. Secondary Education

  6. Revising the Earth’s spheres UNIT6 The geosphere • Of all the Earth’s spheres, the geosphere occupies the greatest volume. It is almost perfectly sphere-shaped. • It is divided into a number of layers: Crust:This is the thinnest layer of the geosphere. The hydrosphere, the biosphere and the atmosphere are located on this layer. Mantle: The thickest layer, the mantle is made of malleable rocks and some molten materials. Core: This is the innermost and hottest layer of the geosphere. It consists of the outer core, which is molten, and the inner core, which is solid. Go back to the start menu Natural Science 2.
