  2. The Beginning • Music on TV has changed a lot since Ralph Roberts put a camera on a goldfish and played music. • MTV debuts August 1, 1981 at 12:01 A.M. • The first video played was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles, followed by “You Better Run” by Pat Benatar.

  6. How MTV Has Changed • MTV started off with the goal of playing rock and roll 24/7. • However it strayed away from that goal and now has many different programs. • MTV spread to other channels with vertically integrated programs.
