  4. Make sure your notebook cover sheet looks like this. #. Date Book Brief Description 1. 12-5 C&S Problem 4.1, ACE 1, 2, 15-17, 23 12-6 C&S Problem 4.2, ACE 3-5, 18-19 You will need: 4.2 Handout Calculator Turn to page 52 in your BLUE book!!! Big Idea: Everyday use of proportions

  5. Launch • Have you ever heard of a “rule of thumb”? What examples do you have to share? • Have you ever heard this one? A yard if the distance from my nose to my fingertip when my arm is outstretched. • You will see different rules of thumbs in the problem today. • Make sure you label all answers with units!!! 

  8. What did you say?? • A stitch in time saves 9, so if she takes 25 stitches in time she has saved: Possible Answer: Taking the time to do a job right saves you time later on. 9 x 25 = 225 saved

  9. Bruiser: 10 pounds= 1 teaspoon 75 pounds = 7.5 teaspoons Dust Ball: 10 pounds= 1 teaspoon 7 pounds = 0.7 teaspoons
