Educator Effectiveness • 2011 – SB 290 • All Oregon School Districts must adopt teacher and administrator standards and develop an aligned evaluation system • The law does not apply to all charter schools • Charter school boards and administrators should be familiar with their school districts system

  8. Does SB 290 Apply to My Charter School? If you answer YES to either of these questions, SB 290 likely applies: • Are your teachers and/or administrator an employee of the school district? • Does the charter contract and/or charter school policies reference the school district evaluation system?

  9. Educator Effectiveness: Required Elements • Standards of Professional Practice. • Differentiated (4) Performance Levels. • Multiple Measures. Evaluators look at evidence from three categories: professional practice, professional responsibilities, and student learning and growth. • Evaluation and Professional Growth Cycle. Regular cycle of continuous improvement that includes self -reflection, goal setting, observations, formative assessment and summative evaluation. • Aligned Professional Learning.
